Mouse iPS Cell Lines
Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) are embryonic stem cell (ESC)–like cells that are genetically reprogrammed from somatic cells by being forced to express genes and factors essential for maintaining the defining properties of ESCs. Because of their characteristics of self-renewal and pluripotency to differentiate to many types of cell lineage, iPSCs have been widely used in fundamental research, drug discovery, and clinical studies.
While the ultimate goal is the use of iPS cells in the treatment of human disease, much of research and preclinical studies are carried out with murine cells. Mouse iPS cells serve as a useful model to 1) investigate the genetic and epigenetic changes in development of regenerative medicine, 2) evaluate and optimize the therapeutic efficacy of novel vaccines (e.g., iPSC-derived dendritic cells) for treating cancers.
Alstem provides mouse iPS cells derived from mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) by retroviral expression of Oct3/4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc genes.
